Discouraged? Overwhelmed? Worried?

I often take time to think about what God has done for me and then I thank Him for it. Giving thanks is powerful. When you give yourself to this – it can change everything.

King David said,
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.
Psalm 92:1

In other places in Psalms we read,
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 118:1

I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
Psalm 9:1

Apostle Paul also teaches about the importance of thanksgiving...
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

…not for circumstances but in all circumstances. Even when things are really difficult, begin to thank God for all that He has done.

Giving thanks to God is His will for us.

I recommend you have a list of things that God has done for you that you can look at and express gratitude.

Here are some things I’m thankful for:

1.  That God saved me
It’s not just cliché – I’m so grateful for His love, that He has forgiven me, and that by His grace He has chosen me.

2. That He led Holly & I together
We have been married 27 years. I am a different person because of Holly. I’m a better man because of Holly. I married out of my league.

3. For the privilege of being a Pastor
The Bible says that we are ‘called’ because of His purpose not because of our good works. I know that! Thank God for His grace. I love our church – Oasis Church in LA. Watching people come to Christ and make their lives stronger by living a life that honors him. I’m so glad to be a part of that.

4.  For my health
I’ve prayed for many people who have tremendous physical problems. I’m grateful for my health.

5.  For my kids
Both of my kids are grown now and they love God, love the church, love their parents, like to hang out with us and are good people. "Winning!!!”

6.  For opportunity
Obedience to God opens many wonderful doors. I appreciate the opportunity God has given me to build fresh water wells in different nations, to travel to interesting places and to minister around the world – I never take that lightly. I’ve had the chance to meet many great people and to partner with them – I’m thankful for opportunity.

7.  For friends
There are great people in my life; friends, family, staff, church family, other pastors. It’s people who make life richer.

What are you thankful for?
Your answer could be specific or could be general.
