Your Words Have Power

In the 1990’s, Dr. Masaru Emoto performed a series of experiments observing the physical effect of words, prayers, music and environment on water. Dr. Emoto hired photographers to take pictures of water after it was exposed to different variables of words and music. He took samples of water from a contaminated river, froze it, and took photos of one sample of water. Then, people prayed prayers of blessing over other samples of the same water and froze them, so they could see if there was a difference.

After the water was subjected to other various influences, the water was frozen so that the water would form crystalline structures. The results were amazing.

He exposed the water to words like love, happiness, war and hate.  The water crystals responded in a significant way.  Positive words shaped the crystals into clear and strong forms but the crystals exposed to negative words produced distorted and disfigured forms.

King Solomon gave us the same idea when he wrote, The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 NIV

It’s no surprise to know that in great marriages, great words are being spoken and conversely, struggling marriages have poor words being spoken between them.  In good friendships, positive words are spoken.  In the person with a peaceful attitude, positive and faith-filled words are being spoken.

In the book “Seven Pillars of Health”, by Dr. Don Colbert, I learned that a large percentage of our bodies, over 70%, are made up of water. Looking at the scientific evidence above, scripture and this fact, I am confident that if we speak words of healing and strength to our body, we can see change.

Jesus said if we have faith and would “speak to the mountain,” it would be removed. Whether we face a relational, financial, spiritual, or physical mountain, our words have power to help or hurt the situation. What mountain needs to be spoken to in your life? What mountain of difficulty have you helped strengthen with your words that if you change what you say, you could watch it come down? Start speaking what you want to see today.
